2. Abassynian (Video)
[Just like last time, the Emperor is in the garden. But his demeanor is totally different. Instead of excitable nervous energy and a hint of sadness, now the Emperor is calm, warm and amiable but utterly self-possessed. The only name attached to the account is 'the Emperor'.]
One – this whole madcap kaleidoscope, it’s for our own moral and psychological benefit. That’s the party line, isn’t it? Well, our mental well-being requires a cat. Whoever has an interest in maintaining the pretense and the authority to provide one, see to it.
Two – We were originally trained as a medical doctor. It seems to be a skillset in unfortunately high demand. We would like to offer our services, in whatever capacity we may be trusted to contribute.
Three – and this is the most important, consider the question open to the floor:
What do you dream of?
Private to Zane:
We should have tea.
[OOC: I dropped the ball on a lot of stuff with him while I was apartment-hunting, and I'm super sorry about that. Let me know if you want to figure out any handwaved stuff, or if you'd rather start with a clean slate, that's cool too.]

[He remembers Ms. Gordon's file, from the odd period where he'd forgotten almost all of his life. The person he would have been, if he'd let his sister die. Under normal circumstances, he'd be appalled at anyone knowing so much about him, but he still thinks the entire barge is just Alexander hacking his head; if he can get it, he can get it. Refusing to play along is fruitless.]
Consider our consent granted.

[ Then, he says ]
I'll review your file, we can discuss your need for companionship animals, and I'll see about helping you find something to do with your time.

For the record, I'm not opposed to scut work, and I certainly don't expect the run of the place. But even doctors' assistants ought to know what they're doing around a body, and I somewhat despise wasted ability.
[Despite his, well, imperious demands, he has readily accepted that he's a prisoner now. It's been a lot time since he last scrubbed off his own dissection table, but he's not the sort to object out of pride.]
[OOC: Anything in his app is fair game for the file. I think it's a pretty good run-down of his life, but if you'd like me to PM you the cliff notes version, let me know!]

As I work in the infirmary, I'll se to your qualifications and we can go from there. Due to past issues-- most inmates are not trusted in the infirmary, regardless of qualifications. It's a sad fact of our environment.
But there have been some. Once the Admiral sees fit to deliver your file and I have a chance to review it, I'll do what I can for you.
If he sees fit. He may deny me. At which point, I am less able to assist you as broadly, but will still attempt to.
[ Mmmm. Maybe Peter and you could get along, Risen one... ]

We might need to reacquaint ourself with some of the equipment - the default technology level here seems ancient to us - but we don't imagine qualifications will be a problem.
[He smiles magnanimously.]
Regardless of the outcome, we appreciate your efforts.

[ In the meantime... ]
Do you have a preference in breed?
Of cat, I mean.

[In spite of all his demands, he says this with a straight face.]
Mixed breeds are typically healthier in any case.

The admiral has declined me your file. I'll still request a cat for you. We'll have to discuss further about work. Without knowing both your skill set and idea of why you are here, I can't engage you in the infirmary without a better idea, I'm sorry.
Once you have a warden, we'll revisit this, though.

Worry about the cat first. We can arrange a meeting to give you a more concrete idea of our proficiency later.

[ He'll get that request in -- it's easily filled, as there's no weaponry, powers, or files to be concerned with. A cat, with the necessary supplies for it's car. Mixed breed, eight months only. Still a little kitten left in it, but not so bad it will be troublesome. ]
